The Competing Pipers Association (CPA) is to hold several online solo piping competitions this summer.
Ceòl Mòr and MSR competitions for each grade will feature. Videos of pipers’ performances are to be recorded and uploaded rather than live-streamed.
In a statement released today, the UK-based organisation that represents competing pipers said: “Following the almost complete cancellation of the 2020 solo piping season, the CPA is holding a series of online competitions. The committee hope that providing our members with an opportunity to compete and receive feedback from top quality judges will be well received.
“There will be two events per grade, Piobaireachd and MSR. The competition will be held in stages:
- C Grade in July,
- B Grade in August, and
- A&P Grade in September,
depending on the success of the earlier competitions. Entries will be taken through the CPA website and we welcome new members to sign up in order to take part.
“Entries open for the C Grade competition on Monday, 14th June with the deadline for entries and submissions Wednesday, 1st July.”
The CPA also plans to host the Jimmie MacGregor Seminar online later in the summer.
Membership of the CPA is open to pipers aged 18 and older. There is a four-tiered grading system – C, B, A and Premier.
