Alex Duncan, son of Ian and Chris Duncan, died today in hospital in Edinburgh. He was 26 years old.
Alex had been in hospital for a week.
Alex Duncan was a first class piper. Taught as a child by Dougie Reid, Perth and father Ian, Alex’ two biggest piping influences were his father and his uncle Gordon who died in 2005. Alex followed in his father’s footsteps when he joined the Vale of Atholl Pipe Band and then later the Atholl Highlanders. As a youngster he was a member of the National Youth Pipe Band of Scotland. Latterly, he was a member of Police Scotland Fife Pipe Band.
A popular staff member of NHS Fife, Alex worked a nurse after graduating from Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen in 2018.
Our deepest sympathies go to Ian and Chris, sisters Tina and Siân, fiancé Freya Anderson-Ward and the wider Duncan family.
