The RSPBA has released the following statement: “In line with national guidance from the Scottish Government, and after discussions with Renfrewshire Council, we have agreed to cancel the British Pipe Band Championships in Paisley, which was due to take place on Saturday 22 May.

Louisa Mahon, Head of Marketing, Communications and Events for Renfrewshire Council, said: “It’s a great shame that we can’t host the British Pipe Band Championships in Paisley this year, but everyone is aware of the situation regarding major events during this global pandemic. The Championships are a fantastic event which draw competitors and spectators from many countries and it’s just not possible to stage such an event right now.”
