The Ayrshire-based band, led by Pipe Major Mitchell Walker, are looking for experienced pipers to help maintain a core number of players for contests and engagements, due to shift working, holidays and the ongoing effects of Covid19.

The Grade 4B band will play up to Grade 4A/3 at minor contests, and require new pipers with experience of playing at a higher level than Grade 4B. Practices are every Monday night in St. Meddans Church in Troon, 7.45pm to 9.45pm, with an extra practice on one Saturday per month till the start of May.

Pipe Sergeant Ian Cox said: “The band are plugging away and hoping that we get a competition season this year. We took part in the Playing for Sheets initiative in November run by the North West of England Branch of the RSPBA and received very good feedback from the judges. We are looking forward to hopefully getting into the circle in 2022.”
