The Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders Pipe Music Collection volume 1 was launched at Piping Live! in 2017. The tune book has been such a success, that it has allowed Volume 2 to be compiled using many of the high quality, unpublished tunes that could not been included in the first book.

Pipe Major James Henderson was one of the compilers of the books, alongside Pipe Major Ian McLellan BEM, Pipe Major James Banks MBE and Pipe Major Walter Cowan. P/M James said: “I am sure that this collection, like its predecessor, will be a great success and rightly perpetuate the fine piping traditions of the regiment.

“Whilst compiling Volume 1, it quickly became apparent we had so many good tunes that they would never all fit into one book. It was a unanimous decision that we should progress with this journey of a second volume whilst time was on our side. For me the unpublished tunes of my late uncle Pipe Major John McLellan D.C.M were a must to get into the public domain. I’m looking forward to the first outing of these never-before heard tunes.”

Pipe Major Ian McLellan BEM said: “It is an honour to be asked once again to be part of the compilation team for the Argyll & Sutherland Pipe Music Collection Volume 2. The team felt there is a host of tunes that are excellent (in their own right) but never made volume 1, especially as they have not been published before and deserve to be heard.”

The second collection will be launched at Piping Live! at The National Piping Centre on August 11, from 11-12.30pm.

Volume 2 can be pre-ordered here and will be shipped immediately following the official launch event on August 11.
