The National Piping Centre will become a hub for solo piping competitions over the next four weekends, starting with the prestigious Glasgow Uist and Barra Invitational this coming Saturday, March 4, 2023.

The pipers invited to take part in the 76th Glasgow Uist and Barra competition 2023 are: Jamie Forrester, Sandy Cameron, Iain Speirs, Sarah Muir, Craig Sutherland, Finlay Johnston, Connor Sinclair, Angus John MacColl, Angus D MacColl and John Mulhearn.

The competition is organised by the Glasgow Uist and Barra Association and will be held in The National Piping Centre’s McPhater Street venue. More information can be found on the Association’s website here, and on the bagpipe.news Upcoming Events pages here.


Duncan Johnstone Memorial competition 2023

The following weekend, Saturday March 11, will see the Duncan Johnstone Memorial competition held in both of The National Piping Centre venues at MacPhater Street in the city centre and Otago Street in the west end. The competition is organised by the Competing Pipers’ Association and is for Grade B and Grade C solo pipers. More information can be found on the CPA website here.

Scottish Pipers’ Associaton Juvenile Competiton 2023

Saturday, March 18, sees the Scottish Pipers’ Associaton Juvenile Competiton take place in The National Piping Centre Otago Street. The competition is open to SPA members and has 12 events divided across the age groups of 13 & under, 15 & under and 18 & under. The CLASP in-person competiton 2023

The final Saturday of the month, March 25, there will be an in-person CLASP competition for adult amateur pipers at The National Piping Centre MacPhater Street.
