Belfast TradFest has world-class traditional music concerts, fiery pub sessions and a growing summer school of traditional music. It is set to celebrate its 5th edition this July across Belfast UNESCO City of Music. The festival marks this milestone with an ambitious programme of music, that will be held between Saturday July 23 – Sunday July 30.  

As part of this programme the Belfast Tradfest Invitational Solo Highland Piping Competition will take place in the Deer’s Head, Belfast on Sunday, July 23 at 4pm.  Six of Ireland’s top pipers compete to be crowned winner of the Belfast TradFest Solo Highland Piping Competition. Each piper will perform a 6-8 minute medley selection of their choice showcasing their unique playing styles. 

The confirmed competitors are Alan Glenholmes, Alistair Donaghy, Ashley McMichael, Kris Coyle and Reece Doherty.

Also included in the programme is week-long workshops and masterclasses with Fin Moore on smallpipes and Scott Wallace on Highland pipes.
