The Ross Ainslie & Ali Hutton Band played to a large, adoring audience last night, January 20 at Celtic Connections 2024.
The performance was a showcase for their prodigious compositional skills and musicianship, but was interspersed with some tunes written by their mentor Gordon Duncan, a song from Connor Markey and a wonderful version of the crowd-pleaser, Freedom Come All Ye’, sung by Jenn Butterworth.
Sharing the bill with Ross and Ali was a band from the new generation of traditional Irish ensembles, Goitse. Their high energy music and honeyed, authentic vocals of Áine McGeeney captured the hearts of Glasgow crowd and received a rapturous response.
