Barry Shears is a piper and publisher from Cape Breton and and has done extensive research on the history of traditional piping in Nova Scotia and its intrinsic connection to the Gaelic language, music and culture.

First released in 1991, it has gone through several editions over the years with total book sale approaching 4000 copies world wide.
