Xavier Boderiou released a new video to promote his album which is currently in the productions stages. This is the final day of a crowdfunding campaign to fund the production, and you can contribute here. The album will be released in October 2024.
The video was shot on the Chateau du Taureau island which was built at the end of the 17th century, and is near Morlaix in Brittany,
Xavier siad: “I composed the first one Tess’s Jig and most will know the two others – an arrangement of The Gold Ring and The Whitby Runaround. These tunes will be part of my upcoming album called Gwrizienn (“Root” in Breton langage). It’s a solo piping album focused on sound and technique.
“I recorded, mixed and produced the album by myself and recorded in the actual workshop. The plan was to release a piping album that could reflect the natural sound of the pipes, without too many artefacts.
“Most of the tunes on the album are composed but the repertoire remains (hopefully) traditional to stick to the great piping tradition. Crowdfunding will help to produce and press the album: https://www.kisskissbankbank.com/en/projects/gwrizienn.”
