Grade 1 Overall winner – Edmund Boland (Piobaireachd Preference)
Grade 2 Overall Winner – John Nevans
Grade 3 Overall Winner – Adam Aitchison
Grade 4 Overall – Steve Langford
The CLASP leagues includes both in-person and online competitions, and the 23/24 season came to a conclusion with the CLASP competitions at the Inveraray Highland Games on July 16, 2024.
The 24/25 season begins with the CLASP World Solo Amateur Piping Competitions at Piping Live! in August. The Grade 3 and 4 competitions are on August 13 at the National Piping Centre in Otago Street, Grade 1 on August 14 and Grade 2 on August 15 at the same venue in Glasgow’s West End.
With an expanded range of grades, competition will be fierce to be overall champion across 4 grades.
The Grade 1 Events are:
1. Piobaireachd (Submit three of choice, play one)
2. 2/4 March, Strathspey & Reel (submit 2 tunes for each, play one)
3. Hornpipe & Jig Event (Own Choice)
The Grade 2 Events are:
1. Piobaireachd (Submit two of choice, play one)
2. 2/4 March (Submit two of choice, play one)
3. Strathspey & Reel (Own Choice)
4. Jig Event (Own Choice)
The Grade 3 Events are:
1. Piobaireachd (Own Choice)
2. 2/4 March (Own Choice)
3. Strathspey & Reel (Own Choice)
4. Jig Event (Own Choice)
The Grade 4* Events are:
1. Piobaireachd – Ground and Next Variation (Own Choice)
2. 2/4 March (Own Choice) 4 parts or 2 two parted 2/4 marches
3. Strathspey & Reel (Own Choice) two two parted Strathspey and Reel (Can be submitted from a four parted tune)
4. Jig Event (Own Choice) – Minimum 4 parts
*Please note that Grade 5 pipers can play up in this grade.
