Solo piping winners from the Royal National Mòd in Oban 2024

•Charlie Mack from Preston Lodge High School in East Lothian was a first-time competitor at The Royal National Mòd and swept the floor winning the Under 16 Roderick Munro Quaich for 2/4 March and the Under 16 Lighting Electrical Cup for his Strathspey and Reel as well as the Skipinnish Shield for the Under 16 Jig competition and Dr DS MacLaggan Memorial Trophy for the Pìobaireachd Under 16. at the Royal National Mòd 2024 in Oban.

The Royal National Mòd’s Junior and Senior piping competitions took place today at the seaside town’s Oban High School. It was a busy day of traditional music competitions all across Oban. The nine-day event is back in its spiritual birthplace until Saturday, October 19. 

•Angus MacPhee, winner of The Argyllshire Gathering Quaich in the Bagpipes B Grader Players Ceòl Beag competition, Royal National Mòd, Oban 2024.

In the senior competitions, the Pìobaireachd Premier and A Grade competition was won by Inverness’ Angus MacPhee who also scored a second win in the March, Strathspey and Reel competition B Grade competition. 

The March, Strathspey and Reel Premier and A Grade competition was won by Crieff’s John Dew.

•John Dew, winner of the John T. McRae Cup Memorial Trophy in the Bagpipes Premier and A Grade Players Ceòl Beag competition, Royal National Mòd, Oban 2024

Aberdeenshire’s James McPetrie won the Pìobaireachd B Grade competition.

Arran Green, 17, from Bannockburn High scooped the W.G.G. Wilson Trophy for the 16-18 Piobaireachd, the Royal Highland Fusiliers Cup for the 16-18 March, Strathspey and Reel and the Col. Murdoch MacTaggart, Bowmore, Memorial Trophy for the 16-18 Hornpipe & Jig.
