Canntaireachd is a collaboration between multi-award winning singers and pipers Kim Carnie (Vocals), Kathleen MacInnes (Vocals), Brìghde Chaimbeul (Small Pipes and Bagpipes), and Ailis Sutherland (Small Pipes and Bagpipes). The quartet join forces with the formidable collective Staran to explore the deep and vital relationship between piping and Gaelic song.
The concert takes place in the New Auditorium in the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall, on Saturday, January 25 — in the evening following the annual piping concert with Inveraray & District and Finlay MacDonald.
Since first performing together, Canntaireachd (which means “singing” in Gaelic) has embarked on a journey to breathe new life into centuries-old melodies, tunes, and captivating stories. Infusing their performances with fresh, innovative material, this unique project promises a truly unforgettable female-led celebration of Scotland’s rich musical heritage.
