The Strathmore Schools Pipe Band project is based in schools across the Blairgowrie area and provides free tuition to pupils, regardless of their location or socio-economic background. With the help of our funders (SSPDT, PKC and others), we’ve been able to offer free lessons, instruments, and uniforms to over 100 young people in 10 primary and secondary schools every year.
Lessons take place during the school day within the pupils’ own schools, and each week the band comes together for an evening practice session at Blairgowrie High School.
This year, we were especially proud to purchase kilts for the band and to place 3rd in debut category at The Scottish Schools Pipe Band Championships.
