The Lonach Gathering attracted a strong international field of 24 seniors and 18 juniors on a fine day, Saturday, August 23. Many were preparing for the Argyllshire competitions this week, making the switch from Pipe Band to Solo mode. For some a visit to the North East was a welcome break from daily practice, and Glasgow. Many tune names were noted en route.
Anna Kummerlöw won the Piobaireachd receiving the Charles Morrison medal and £500. Willie McCallum had a clean sweep in the light music. Alex Pavlovic from Texas was junior champion. The Judges for the day were Robert Barnes, Ian Duncan, Jack Taylor and Duncan Watson.
