Engagement | Transition | Evolution – Professional Development Day
The Scottish Schools Pipes and Drums Trust and the National Piping Centre welcome piping and drumming teachers from across the country for a professional development day on Mon 3rd Nov 2025. This will be an interactive day of piping & drumming to learn, discuss, play and share best practice for engaging young people in performing.
Taking place at The National Piping Centre, McPhater Street, Glasgow the aim of this day is to facilitate discussion and collaboration, working on teaching techniques and more, in a thought-provoking and useful way.
The schedule for the day is built around an informal approach to all topics, which maximises peer-to-peer learning and interactions. Expect to learn from each other through discussion and knowledge sharing in this interactive day.
Seminars will include:
- Engaging 7-12 year olds
- Managing transitions
- Using Sibelius
- Playing together to develop new music
The seminars will be interspersed with plenty of networking opportunities for you to meet your colleagues from across Scotland.
The registrations are £75 for salaried instructors. For freelance instructors it is £15 to register, which helps cover the cost of the lunch.
