The Captain John A MacLellan MBE Memorial Recital is organised by The Eagle Pipers’ Society, and was held at The Caledonian Hotel, Edinburgh on Saturday, August 30th.
Cameron Drummond was the winner playing The Edinburgh Piobaireachd. The other pipers were Ian K. MacDonald, Iain Speirs and Jamie Forrester. It was judged by Jimmy Banks MBE.
The event provides a rare platform for the playing of 20th century piobaireachd. One of the key successes of the dinner is bringing Captain John’s tunes into the popular competitive repertoire.
