This year’s Highlands & Island Young Piper of the Year competition will take place on July 18. The venue is once again Sgoil Lionacleit on Benbecula in the Western Isles.

This competition is sandwiched between two other events in the region, the South Uist Games on Wednesday, July 17 and the North Uist Games on Friday, July 19.

An enjoyable ceilidh held in the Dark Island Hotel usually follows the competition.

Competitions in the following categories will be held:

Open Chanter – 2/4 March (four parts);
Novice Piping – 2/4 March (four parts);
Under 15 – Ceòl Mòr / March / Strathspey & Reel / Jig;
Under 18 – Ceòl Mòr / March / Strathspey & Reel / Hornpipe & Jig;
Aged 30 and Under – Ceòl Mòr / March / Strathspey & Reel / Hornpipe & Jig.
