One of Scotland’s leading pipers is undertaking a fundraising charity walk on Sunday, June 16. The National Piping Centre’s Wilson Brown, a Gold Medallist and former member of the Strathclyde Police Pipe Band, is taking part in the March for Men, organised by Prostate Cancer UK.

The event is being held in Pollok Park, the large tranquil park in the south side of Glasgow. Wilson will play his pipes along the route.

Wilson, pictured right, said: “I intend to play my pipes as I march round the 5km route. My daughter works for this great charity and I know a number of friends and colleagues who have been affected by this cancer. I hope readers will support me in raising funds for this great charity.”

Wilson has created a Just Giving page which can be found at: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/Wilsonthepiper

In addition, Wilson, who began playing the pipes 50 years ago, has composed a tune – his first – to mark the occasion and to raise additional funds. It is a four-parted 6/8 march which the highest bidder can name. We will reveal the tune to readers very soon.
