The Piping Live! Big Band parading down West George Street in 2017.

Bandsmen and women are today invited to take part in the Piping Live! Big Band parade during the festival. The parade has been a feature of the festival for a number of years now and funds raised go to charity. This year, the charity that will benefit from the funds raised is the Heart of Scotland Appeal from Heart Research UK.

The parade is on Monday, August 12 and is open to any piper or drummer whether in a pipe band or not. It will commence from West George St/Pitt Street, head down West George Street, and end at Glasgow’s iconic and historic George Square. A short performance and salute to the chieftain concludes the parade.

The band tunes will be playable for all levels.

Roddy MacLeod MBE, Director of Piping Live! – and the Big Band Pipe Major – said: “We are delighted that through Piping Live! we are able to help raise funds for such an important charity which helps people across Scotland. I can’t wait for another great event!”

It costs only £10.00 to register to participate. A donation from every entry will go towards the Heart of Scotland Appeal. Click HERE to register.
