Belgravia, London, England – Callum Beaumont was awarded the Bratach Gorm and overall title today at the Scottish Piping Society of London’s 80th annual solo piping competitions. The event was held at its plush new venue, The Caledonian Club.
The win means Beaumont is the second qualifier for the 2020 Glenfiddich Championship, the first being Glenfiddich title holder Finlay Johnston.
The Bo’ness piper also won the Open Piobaireachd competition (the Gillies Cup) and the Premier Grade MSR competition.
The Bratach Gorm was held on Friday evening. Ten pipers entered but one withdrew. Competitors submit seven tunes each. Five minutes were allowed for tuning.

The four other competing pipers were: Roddy MacLeod (Patrick Òg MacCrimmon’s Lament), Willie McCallum (Rout of the Lowland Captain) Jack Lee – (Lord Lovat’s Lament) and Niall Stewart – (Lachlan MacNeill Campbell of Kintarbert’s Fancy).
