TNPC elves greet the Festive Family event goers

The National Piping Centre in Glasgow city centre has a number of seasonal family events kicking off next month.

This Sunday (December 1) sees the first of three Sing Along with Santa days. These feature ‘Piping Hot Santa Parties’ which are suitable for different age groups of children and include singing and dancing, led by Celine Donoghue and Friends. Each child will receive a gift from Santa and there’s mince pies for the adults. As well as this Sunday, these take place on December 15 and again on the 22nd.

On Thursday, December 12 from 5.00pm- 8.30pm, there is a Late Night Christmas Shopping event at The Bagpipe Shop inside the McPhater Street building. The shop has been well stocked in advance and is offering 10% off all piping purchases, a lucky dip gift, mince pies (naturally) and independent advice from its knowledgeable staff. More information can be found here.

Santa leads the way.

Also on Thursday 12, is the first of two Christmas ceilidhs, the second being a week later on the 19th. These are for over 18s but a Christmas family ceilidh will take place Saturday, December 21.

On Hogmanay, the popular Wee Hogmanay and Hogmanay Hootenanny events return. The Wee Hogmanay parties are ideal for families with young children (age 2-10). They take place earlier in the evening but end with a special ‘bells’ celebration.

The Hogmanay Hootenanny has proven popular in previous years. Patrons have the option of having a meal in the award-winning Pipers’ Tryst Hotel prior to the ceilidh or to just go to the ceilidh.

For a flavour of the ceilidhs take a look at this very short video:
