This autumn, the National Youth Pipe Band of Scotland is running a weekend of workshops for young pipers and drummers in Dumfries & Galloway. With so many creative opportunities in Scotland’s central belt, the band wanted to reach beyond that and take their programme to local tutors and make a connection in south west of Scotland and invite young people aged 10-18 along.

The weekend will be held at The Bridge in Dumfries on October 15-16. It will consist of workshops focusing on fun concert material, theory, maintenance and other topics to support a young player’s interest and development.

The NYPBS would like to invite local piping and drumming tutors to the workshops and welcome any advice and support on how best to engage with the young pipers and drummers in the region.

The NYPBS are planning to make their programme reach every corner of Scotland and are hoping to hear from more regional tutors on what they’d like to see from the NYPBS programme going forward.

The event is free-to-all, but places are limited and participants can sign-up here now: https://airtable.com/shr97f2k8wyAEgJNW
