This new competition will be hosted by the British Columbia Pipers’ Association (BCPA), and forms part of the new RSPBA International Solo Drumming circuit for 2023.

This event is officially recognised and sanctioned by the RSPBA and will be conducted according to RSPBA rules and will be adjudicated by accredited RSPBA adjudicators. The Championship will also enable the top four placed competitors who have not already pre-qualified for the World Solo Drumming Championships to enter the World Solo Drumming Championships as a semi-finalist in October 2023 in Scotland. The winner of this event will receive the J. Reid Maxwell medal. Monetary prizes are sponsored by Tartantown and BCPA.

Registration can be completed using the website or mobile phone application. Entries close Friday, March 17. The competition will take place at the BCPA Annual Gathering on April 7 & 8, 2023, which will be held at North Delta Secondary School, 11447 82nd St, Delta, BC V4C 5J6

In addition to the Pacific Rim Championship, there will also be an Open Drumming contest with both MSR and Hornpipe and Jig events. Of which the aggregate winner will receive $800 to be used for travel to compete at a major solo drumming contest.
