This time next week Glasgow will be full of pipers and drummers and Piping Live! has a full day of events planned to keep them entertained.

See the listings below for daytime events and take your pick from pipe band performances, CLASP Grade 2 solo piping competition, a recital with Angus MacColl, piobaireach workshop with Allan MacDonald, a Gaelic language workshop, a variety of piping performances in the Street Cafe, and a Pipe Idol heat with six solo competitors.

In the evening you have a choice of the International Quartet Competition or a concert featuring four female singers and pipers exploring Gaelic song and piping’s intertwined roots. And if you have not had your fill of music by 10.30pm, head to the Late Night Sessions at the Festival Club for a tune and a pint. [If you happen to be in Edinburgh, pop along to the Scots Guards Club and catch Jarlath Henderson and Bruce Gandy at the Eagle Pipers.]
