Next Wednesday at Piping Live! is another day of wall to wall pipe music with something to suit every taste. There are five pipe band performances on Buchanan Street, including the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo Pipes & Drums visiting Glasgow for the day, and a Grade 1 pipe band practice from the 78th Fraser Highlanders. Other highlights include a Willie McCallum solo piping recital on his uncle Hugh McCallum’s pipes, and the tune book launch for the NPC 25th Anniversary Collection – only 250 limited edition copies, so be quick! And of course, there will be the usual wide variety of pipes and pints to consume in the Street Cafe.

In the evening the Lowland and Border Pipers’ Society presents InB, who will celebrate the rich sound of the uilleann pipes and Scottish smallpipes pitched in the beautiful key of B. And if you have not had your fill of music by 10.30pm, head to the Late Night Sessions at the Festival Club for a tune and a pint.

If you can’t be in Glasgow next week but want to be part of the music, check out the Piping Live! 2023 Online Festival Pass here. There are two +LIVESTREAM events included in the pass for Wednesday.

Lowland and Border Pipers’ Society presents inB

InB celebrates for the first time the rich sound of the uilleann pipes and Scottish smallpipes pitched in the beautiful key of B. The powerful sound of four sets of pipes playing in harmony creates a beautifully unique tonal texture.

Award winning artists, Bríghde Chaimbeul and Fin Moore perform on Scottish smallpipes, handcrafted specially in B by Fin Moore. And on the uilleann pipes, Louise Mulcahy and Tiarnán Ó Duinnchinn bring their unique approach to this musical collaboration.

Louise performs on a very special set of uilleann pipes, once owned and played by the master piper Liam O’ Flynn. This set was entrusted to Louise by Na Píobairí Uilleann in 2019.
