Sunday, August 20 is the day after the World Pipe Band Championships – but the piping doesn’t stop. The Gordon Duncan Memorial Piping Competition takes place on Sunday afternoon, then we have a trad music session with Tarran in Waxy O’Connors in the early evening, which fills the time nicely till the Closing Concert begins at 7.30pm. Ross Ainslie & Ali Hutton and Jarlath Henderson & Innes Watson will end the Piping Live! 2023 festival on a musical high.

The Closing Concert has already sold out, so check out the Piping Live! 2023 Online Festival Pass here to allow you to watch the concert online. There are two +LIVESTREAM events included in the pass for Sunday.

Gordon Duncan Memorial Piping Competition 2023

Four pipers compete to win this prestigious prize, celebrating the music of Gordon Duncan.

This unique event continues to celebrate the late-great Gordon’s links to Scotland, Ireland and Brittany as each competitor will play sets of Scottish, Irish and Breton music. Confirmed pipers so far are Anna Smart (Scotland), Enora Morice (Brittany) and Austin Diepenhorst (USA). They will be judged by a panel of experts, with the overall winner named the best player of all three musical styles.
