•Pipe Major Alen Tully leads St. Laurence O’Toole to the line at the Worlds 2024.

The UK Pipe Band Championships took place yesterday, July 12, at The Royal Highland Centre at Ingliston in Edinburgh. The July date was a change from previous years and it was a decision which did not suit some bands. The decision to hold the event in Edinburgh meant it is the first time the UK Championships has been held outside of Northern Ireland since its inception in 2014.

The change of date and venue resulted in a lower attendance with only 65 performances across all the grades, compared to 68, 73 and 72 in the previous three years since lockdown.

There were no bands for the Juvenile Grade which usually has 3 or 4 playing, and in Grade 1 where there are usually 10 bands, there were only three, with St Laurence O’Toole winning on ensemble preference.

Grade 1

  1. St Laurence O’Toole – EP
